The Música Viva Festival is a highly acclaimed cultural initiative in Portugal dedicated to promoting contemporary musical creation, electronic acoustic innovation, and the interaction between instrumental composition and poetry. In 2025, marking its 40th anniversary, the festival reached a historic milestone by hosting the prestigious ISCM World New Music Days for the first time in Portugal, an international event created by the century-old International Society for Contemporary Music. Under the theme “Thirst for Change,” this specific global edition acted as an environmental and social call to arms, presenting 135 contemporary pieces from composers across 44 countries
